Chocolate Cherry Energy Balls

Vegan Cherry Chocolate Energy Balls Recipe
  • You can substitute the cherries for another fruit such as blueberries or raspberries.
  • These are a great meal-prep recipe. You can make them ahead of time and keep them in the fridge, then snack on them when you’re feeling hungry!
  • We use fresh cherries, but you can also use frozen cherries if you already have them in your freezer.
  • Cashew nuts work perfectly in this recipe, but you can substitute these for almonds or walnuts.
  • Store in an airtight container and in the fridge for 3-4 days.
  • Make sure the chocolate you use is soy-free to make this a soy free recipe.

Can you use frozen cherries? Its winter in Australia and Cherries are not readily available.

We haven’t tried it with frozen cherries but I don’t see why not. Let us know how it goes. Thanks Roxy (So Vegan)

Might be nice with blueberries if cherries aren’t available

What can be used instead of desiccated coconut? I’m not a big fun of the taste.

You could leave the desiccated coconut out as it’s just in the last step for decoration. Alternatively you could try almond flakes. Good luck! Roxy (So Vegan)

This recipe looks amazing! Do you think it can be made with a blender? And also do you think it could be good with another fruit? (such as kiwi, apple, lychee..)
Thanks!

Hi Rosalie, you could try in a blender but the mixture might be too firm to be processed. I think kiwi has too much liquid in it so the balls won’t hold. Apple could work if you shredded it first, and not sure about lychee- you’ll have to let us know about that one! Thanks, Roxy (So Vegan)

Fantastic recipe. . Love them and my daughter loved them too. I used frozen cherries and I added chia seeds to the recipe. They were Perfect! I will also add some ground flax seeds in my next batch.

I’ve made these about five times now and they never fail to disappoint. So easy and quick! I use glacier cherries so I can keep the ingredients in the cupboards to make on any occasion. Love them, thank you! 🙂

Can I sub almonds or other nuts here? Cashews don’t agree with me. Thanks-
