5 Ingredient Seeded Loaf
This is our go-to homemade bread recipe. It's super simple and a great excuse to use up whatever seeds you have lying around the kitchen cupboards.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- strong white bread flour, plus extra for dusting
- dried fast action yeast
- salt
- mixed seeds, plus extra for sprinkling
- vegetable oil
Method
- 1
Combine the flour, yeast and salt in a mixing bowl.
- 2
Add 320ml (10.8fl.oz) of tepid water and mix with a metal spoon until a dough forms. Use your hands to bring the dough together, then transfer it to a lightly floured worktop and knead for 10 minutes. Add more flour if the dough is too sticky or a small splash of water if it’s too dry
- 3
Scatter the seeds over the dough and use your hands to work the seeds into the dough evenly.
- 4
Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp tea towel and leave to prove for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size. Meanwhile, grease the bottom and sides of a 26cm x 13cm (10” x 5”) loaf tin with vegetable oil.
- 5
Remove the dough from the bowl, gently punch the air out then gently knead it for 30 seconds.
- 6
Pop the dough into the loaf tin, cover with the tea towel and prove for another 30 minutes or until it has doubled in size again.
- 7
Preheat the oven to 180°C fan/ 400°F.
- 8
Lightly brush the top of the dough with water and sprinkle extra seeds over the top. Bake in the oven for 35- 45 minutes or until the crust is golden.
